On Monday March 5th afternoon the Guildhall Northampton hosted it’s nineteenth annual ‘Shine a light on Tibet’ event in the Great Hall.

Members of Niff, the Mayor and Deputy Leader of the council were amongst the many guests who attended the ceremony to support such an important campaign.

At one of clock the Mr Chonpel Tsering, the Dalai Lamas representative, Caroline Scattergood, the organiser of the event, the Mayor, Leader and Deputy Leader of the council all raised the Tibetan flag above our Guildhall.

We feel it is important to support this campaign for the people of Tibet. More than six million people face brutal imprisonment for owning, waving or flying their national flag. It is censored from any media in China and because of this has become a symbol of unity for Tibetans.
