On 27th January 2023, the annual Holocaust Memorial Day event was held at the Guildhall. After the laying of flowers in the Courtyard, the event continued in the Main Hall. There was a short speech by the Leader of West Northants Council, and a moving address by Lori Gale-Rumens from the Jewish community. Representatives of the Police and the Fire Service then gave short speeches. NIFF was represented by our Chair, Daniel Tabor, who gave a short address, reflecting on the implications of the Holocaust for the present and the future. There were several excellent musical performances by students from Sponne School, and a dramatic presentation by two students from NSB. Finally, Michael Necus, President of the Northampton Jewish community, recited two prayers in Hebrew, and the proceedings were brought to a close by the blowing of the shofar by Bruce Greenberg. It was a moving event.
